It's Friday!!!!

This has been an awfully hard week to get thru. Nothing bad has happened, I am just very happy it is Friday! I am going to venture off my boring elliptical path tonight and try to take a hip hop dance class at the gym...... I will let you know what bone I break when I trip over my own feet :-). I didn't pack my stuff to go to the gym right after work, so I figured I might as well wait to go until the class starts. Nobody knows me there and Ryan will be long gone, so I can't make a fool out of myself in front of him (like I don't do that often enough anyway.......). Speaking of Ryan -- today is his birthday. A wise ol' 24. Yep, he's still a baby :-). Anyway, happy birthday to him. And no I didn't get him anything. He might get a text message this afternoon! He, he!

Well, all is a little better today in the office. I have been working on an issue so I really haven't been tuned into anything else that is going on anyway. Friday's are always quiet here -- esp. during the summer, so that means I can get some stuff done.

Another bizarre note: I read a headline that stated Pat Robertson is now a "convert" to the concept of Global Warming. The fact that I agree with Pat Robertson on anything might just be a sign of the end of the world.......... I can't say he is a nut job on this issue. That frightens me :-).

Well, have a happy Friday. I plan to have a nice, quiet one. Mike and I do not have big plans and I am okay with that. I think we are going to see the new Will Farrell movie -- I have heard it is pretty funny. Will is great in anything so I am sure I will enjoy it!

The joy of friends

I was thinking today that I am so blessed to have such good friends who love me no matter how silly I get or what mistakes I make. I had to deal today with the worst group of women who would rather tear each other up and talk behind each others back than support them and work out issues. I try to stay out of their negativity and total childish behavior. However when it is near you for 8 hours a day, it can't help but infect you. I am lucky that I have Mia and Jen right at my finger tips on email. Michelle doesn't have regular access to email so I can't always chat with her. And now I have Mike to support me through days like this. He listens (or reads, I should say). And then, he tries to make me laugh. Which he succeeds at often! So, I am here to thank my wonderful friends for being supportive, beautiful influences in my life. I made it through the day and got in a good workout. And I get to see Mike after his test tonight, so I am very happy!!!

The Office is on so I am going to watch that!!! Later!

Wednesday.. oh boy.....

I really don't think I have too much to report. It is Wednesday and life is still good. I had a good workout with Ryan last night and am in a fair amount of hurt! We switched up the workout again, so I am not doing those "power workouts" anymore (at least for awhile). Well, I kept asking yesterday if we could go back to them! He kicked my booty just a tad. Always a good thing, but he did get death stares yesterday :-). I still have to have to get in a spinning class this week - he made that one of my cardios. I am not looking forward to it, but gotta get it done. I will tell you if I survive it :).

Not really much else to report. Work is going well, except for some reason, this week seems to be negative week! All the people at work seem to be doing a lot more complaining than normal. I stay in my little cube and ignore them, but sometimes they just seep in and I want to tell them all the hush!!!! Oh well. I will just let them be. They will reap what they sow and if they put that negativity into the universe, they will get that negativity back! Plus, it is kind of funny to watch them act like 12 year olds.

Well, later!

My Weekend

It has been hard to get into the swing of things this morning. I have accomplished some stuff, but I am still so tired. I might actually get out for lunch and take a walk to the Bank of America building to get the blood flowing. It only feels like 93 degrees, according to yahoo weather -- so I will only sweat a little :-).

So, the weekend was very good. Friday, I slept and slept. I don't find that at all wasteful. I was tired! Saturday, I did my normal workout with Ryan and ran some errands during the day, along with brunch (more like very late lunch) with my mom and brother. Saturday night, I had dinner with Mike's mother, sister and brother in law. It was the brother in law's birthday and they were celebrating at Maggiano's (hadn't been there in forever. It was soooo good!). Mike didn't really understand this, but I was just a little nervous meeting the mother and sister. Come on, the two important women in his life meeting another potentially important female is a big deal. He didn't get it :-). I kept fretting over what to wear, but I have to say, I was presentable and looked good :-). The dinner went well, and from what I understand, I got thumbs up. I really liked the family so all is good. (In case you are wondering, his father passed away several years ago. That is why there is no mention of him.)

Sunday he spent studying and I ran more errands and cleaned my apartment like there was no tomorrow. However, that statement really doesn't make sense, because if there was no tomorrow, I sure as heck wouldn't be cleaning :-). I finally got some big things crossed off my list so I felt very productive. We then went to Mia and Brian's house for dinner. Mia made some awesome pasta and homemade bread. It was all so good! She is such an awesome cook! We had a great time at their house and of course, Mike got thumbs up from them. Like there was any doubt :-).

Well, time to get back to the grindstone. I have some letters to produce this week so I need to get going on them. Those fun letters that I have to keep every legal consideration in mind. Not as fun as writing a persuasion paper :-). But that is why they pay me! Later!

I am going to brag right now......

I just got back from the gym (because, really, with Mike in school during the week, that is all I have :-). J/K of course!!!). Met with my other man, Ryan, and went through my normal workout. I ended up doing 210 lbs on the leg press!!!! Okay, so it was only 5 reps, but man, I was proud!!!! Okay, enough bragging:-). I met a gal during my warm up who just started working out with a trainer. She was pretty nice. She was asking me who my trainer was because she might be switching to another one. I said all these great things about Ryan -- and she pretty much figured I liked him since I had been with him so long. Anyway, we get started and I tell him that my lower back has started hurting. And he shrugs his shoulders....... I almost hit him. He was kidding of course and we did a stretch that would help the back. I guess if he doesn't talk to me or joke with me, then I should worry!

So, not really much else to write about. Jen is home from her vacation and we are happy to have her and David home safe and sound!!!! I can't wait to see pictures!!!

The Weekend!

The trip to Austin was so much fun! Mia and I got a late start on Friday morning, which was totally okay. Her Chihuahua, Paco, had wasn't feeling well and she wanted to make sure the little guy was stable before we headed out. Paco is the canine version of Simon. Just about as crazy :-). I saw Mike, got some errands run, and updated my ipod, so I thought I was having a productive morning. The drive down was pretty good.

We checked into our hotel and tried to settle in. Mia calls me and tells me there is a weird smell in her room so I checked it out. Yes, there was definitely something wrong! I took one sniff and walked right out! She changed rooms and then we got ready to go to Barton Springs. If you have never been there, you must go! It is a natural spring that has been formed into a swimming pool type area. The water is 68 degrees (from what I understand, it is that all year round!). Yes, going from 100 degree heat to 68 degree water puts a shock on your system, but not if you go in gradually. It felt so good and really cooled us off. We did a little swimming and then laid out a bit. Aveeno sun screen really works. You can't tell I got any sun!!!! I am still pale :-).

After Barton Springs we went back to clean up. By the time we got back to the hotel, the band had arrived. Perfect timing! We decided to get ready to go eat and hit 6th street. Apparently the humidity in Austin, the soft water and the lack of a hairdryer actually make for great hair conditions. I thought I was going to have to shave it all off, but it ended up looking pretty good - not just my conceited opinion. Mia said I should wear it that way more often. I just don't think I can replicate it!

We decided to take a cab to 6th Street since the guys weren't leaving for awhile and traffic/parking was a pain. We ended up with the rudest cab driver ever. Bad, bad customer service. There was no tip for him....... Any way the restaurant we wanted had an hour wait. And the band started playing in an hour, so that wasn't going to work! We ended up at a Mexican food place near the club where the band was playing. It was actually really good! The guys had just started playing when we got there (yes, we even got called out on being late by the lead singer.......). I thought they played great. All in all, a fun time on 6th Street. I guess I don't remember it as jumping during my college years as a visiting Aggie. It was pretty interesting!

The rest of the weekend wasn't as exciting as that. Sunday I spent some time at Borders where Mike was studying. We talked a little and then I just went and found magazines to read. It was nice to just be there with him. I had to leave to get my hair done. Now I am a tad blonder than I was before! Natalie came over and did the highlights. The rest was spent watching a movie with Mike and eating the yummy Central Market food he brought over. We ended up watching "Transamerica". That was a great movie! I was having a hard time convincing him that Felicity Huffman is actually a very beautiful woman. When I showed him her picture, he was amazed at her transformation. She had an amazing performance in this movie!

Okay, it is almost time to hit the gym. I slacked off yesterday so I need to hit it hard today!

It's Mini Vacation Time

Woohoo! Today was my Friday and I can tell you I am so happy. It was a long day. I can truly say I have become someone they now can throw things too. I juggled all day but it was all good. The frustrating part was I had to deal with the same idiot all day long. She just wouldn't go away. I had to be at the gym at 5:00 so I did what I could and left in time to get there and changed. It was a great work out and got out all those frustrations of the day! Ryan continues to kick my booty and all is good. I even hit my weight goal this week so that was nice considering last week's frustrating weigh in. I am back on track!

Welp, I am off to Austin tomorrow and I am looking forward to the trip. I will get some pics to post of all the fun! I will be home Saturday but I am not sure what the rest of the weekend will hold. We will see! I know some of that time will be with Mike, but who knows what else we will do.

Have a good evening and a happy Friday!

Tuesday Update

There really isn't too much to report these days. I had a nice, relaxing weekend. Jen and I had dinner at a great place called Cafe Madrid. So, so yummy. Mia was supposed to join us, but she was running late and ended up having to drop out at the last minute. We will just have to go back so she can enjoy the yumminess of that place. I ended up seeing 2 movies this weekend: "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Strangers with Candy". Both were very good. I loved the book so I was happy to see that they did a great job on "Devil". And "Strangers with Candy" was just freakin hilarious! I need to see it again because I think there was a lot I actually missed. I actually cooked dinner this past weekend too. I hadn't cooked in a long time and it was nice to actually be in the kitchen. It is just very hard to cook for myself. So, Mike gets to be my guinea pig :-). He did like the Vegetarian Rice Tacos. I have a new recipe to try out on him this coming weekend. This will be fun :-).

Mia and I are headed to Austin on Friday morning to see Saints and Sinners there on Friday night. I can't wait. It will be fun to head down there, even for one night. I am sure I will have lots of great stories!

Well, that is it for now! Later!

The Dental Hygenist is my friend.....

Or so I kept repeating this morning as she was poking sharp metal objects in my mouth. I know it is a necessary evil and I want to keep my great teeth in my head, it still was the least amount of fun all week. I would rather be on an elliptical for an hour. Going fast the entire time. And then have a 'Ryan' workout. I was in pain, let's just say that (it will teach me to floss more......). Oh, and NEVER have the Strawberry flavored fluoride -- that stuff leaves the nastiest after tastes! I can usually handle the other flavors, but never, ever again with this flavor!!!!!

As I was checking out, I had an interesting situation come up. They called to check the status of my eligibility since I just got this insurance. The front desk was told that while I became eligible for insurance on June 1, I didn't have eligibility in the month of July. Um, huh???? That is a new one for me. I ended up paying out of pocket and came back here to talk to my company benefit help desk. She was pretty helpful, but she had never heard that happening either! So, I am awaiting a call so we can get this sorted out. No reason to have insurance if I am going to have to shell out for the whole darn thing!!! I will keep you updated.

Other than that, there is nothing new to report in the last 24 hours. Tomorrow night, I am meeting Jen and Mia at Cafe Madrid for dinner. I haven't been there forever! It is a great Spanish restaurant with Tapas and awesome Sangria. I will be a good girl (mostly) since I have to work out in the morning with Ryan, but I can have one glass. "Stranger's With Candy" opens this weekend too. I can't wait to see that! Amy Sedaris is so funny and totally amazing as this character. Mike and I going to see it this weekend since we were both fans of the Comedy Central show when it was on the air. I will have to shell out for the DVD set next pay period.

I am a bad girl, I know

I know, a week and a half. Really, no excuse. I am sure everyone wants to hear about my workouts, work situation and all that fun stuff :-). We did a re-assessment yesterday at the gym. NOT GOOD!!!! I have no idea what the heck happened. I even went up in body fat. After like two measurements, Ryan wouldn't even let me look at the numbers because he knew I was getting upset. He didn't want me to get discouraged but it was too late. I know it is a temporary set back, but it was just frustrating. I work my butt off and my body was not reacting. So, we tweaked things and I should be set back on track. I lost some of my calories -- apparently I can't have 1800 anymore.......... But we then had a good workout, I felt motivated and back on track. So, here goes!!!

I have started to date a new guy. I can't believe I am even mentioning him so early in the 'process' since I always have the fear of jinxing it! I really do like him and so we'll see. It has only been a week, so that is all you get!

Jen 'officially' asked me to be a part of her bridal party yesterday. I guess since she finally "came clean" yesterday in her blog (seriously though, who didn't know she was talking about a wedding :-)), I can write about the honor of being asked to stand with her while she marries David. Okay, I am getting weepy so I won't type anymore! But, I am so thrilled she has found the man she will spend the rest of her life with. And David is a very good guy. I will have to start a different blog for any Bridezilla stories :-). (If I can travel to Paris with this woman, than I think we will be okay though. I am guessing no bridezilla stories....)

In sad news, a family friend passed away last week. His funeral is today but I am unfortunately unable to attend. However, my thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Talk to you later.

Oh, quiet Monday Morning!

Yes, I am at work, but it is kind of slow this morning, so I thought I would post while I had some time. :-). It was an uneventful Sunday but that is totally okay. I actually found myself addicted to the Twilight Zone Marathon on the Sci Fi channel. I didn't want to turn the tv off and go to sleep! I forgot how good the stories are in that series. It is great writing and some of them just freaked me out! And yes, if I had been off today, I might have just stayed in my pjs and watched all morning. (It is on through tomorrow). There were several that were favorites so far, but one I watched before I feel asleep just really made me think. I am surprised I didn't have strange dreams:

A lady in white is on a horse and she is riding through a meadow. She is beautiful, young and full of hopes and dreams. Enter a lady on a black horse. She is older, a little more "worn". She sees the lady on the white horse and starts chasing her, yelling out her name. Young Ann doesn't understand what she is saying and runs off scared. But wouldn't you be too if some lady in black was chasing you -- on a black horse no less!!! It turns out her tattered future was trying unsuccessfully to warn her youthful past about the mistake she was about to make. The one that would throw the family in financial ruin (basically, she marries the wrong man......). You have to watch it to get the whole story because it gets a tad long for a blog -- at least if I want to give you all the nuances of it.

Okay, I guess I need to get some work done. I am leaving work at 12 today then headed to the gym for cardio. As long as it is still working, I will keep up the dreaded elliptical!

Passing out at the gym is never a good thing

Okay, well, I didn't completely black out, but I did get dizzy and was unable to make it through the full workout. Ticked me off too! Ryan was very sweet about it but I was still kind of irritated. We had moved my session to 8:00 AM and so I don't think I ate enough to sustain myself through the "power" workout. I did get abs and stretching done, so it wasn't a total lose. The stretching wasn't actually planned but I pulled a hamstring and kind of made him stretch the leg back since he could get a better stretch for me by pushing the leg. And of course, I had to do the other leg. So, I did get something done, but it still disappointed me that I only got half way through the second set! Apparently people can end up throwing up through this "power" session, so I should be happy I only got dizzy! And I now know that if I move the session to 8 AM, I really need to get up even earlier to eat way more!

Oh well, I need to get going. I have to do some cleaning and then off to a yoga class. Stretching really needs to be incorporated into my workout routine with the cardio and training sessions. So, yes, I will be working out everyday now!!!

A new level of hurt

I just got back from the gym and my work out with Ryan. Today we started this thing called EET. I have no idea what the initials stand for (he has told me several times). In reality, it is a new level of butt kicking. You basically go through sets with much heavier weight and quicker than you would normally do (since the weight is 85% of what you can normally do, you can only do 5 reps). He says it burns about 10 calories a minute, you can only do about 30 minutes so that is 300 calories in the session (wow, I can do math!). I feel that "good" burn right now. I was thinking of doing cardio either before or after the sessions, but if we are going to keep that up for 4 weeks, there is no way I can do that. I would kill myself. I have this feeling I will be hurting tomorrow, but it is all good. It was the first time in awhile I had called him evil. In front of his boss. :-) The boss said that was a good thing. I was starving afterwards, but I was a good girl and got a salad from Baker's Bros. The kitties needed food too, so I had to go close to the PetsMart! I did buy them a toy, but they are ignoring it and sleeping........

Other than that, all is good. I have been in cranky mode since I had a hive attack last week. Um folks, I only get stressed when you ask me if I am stressed (which most people believe cause the hives). It is only a trigger -- although I really wasn't stressed so I don't think that was my trigger. With the heat and allergins in the air, I might have to contend with hives more often. It stinks since I hadn't had a break out in a few months!!!! Yeah, you know I am excited.......

Hump Day

Well, I do have to say I was disappointed that the Mavs weren't able to force a game 7, but I was proud of the team for making it as far as they did! I wasn't a big basketball fan before the playoffs but the Mavs definitely have a new fan!

So, today was a pretty normal day. I am discovering how the government works first hand. I am working on an issue and I have pretty much talked to 5 or 6 different people. One person sends me to the other. It might be the fact that I was just handed this and am pretty much figuring it out myself. Everyone is very nice about things, and I really just have to laugh. The only thing I can really discuss about my current projects is the Bird Flu Summary I have been working on. I am now a bird flu/pandemic flu expert so ask me anything :-). (And really, it does have something to do with my job)

I think tonight will be movie night. Working out kind of took it out of me. And for some reason, I am having some serious hives this week. The time on the elliptical helped ease them a bit, but rest might be another good thing.

Okay, gonna run. In case I don't get to blog early enough in the day tomorrow, I want to wish Jen a Happy Birthday for Thursday!!!!! Do like me and celebrate as long as possible. Oh, and my brother is coming home tomorrow night from China for good! I know he will miss China, but it will be cool to have him back in the States.

I can't watch

But I will!!! Argh. Back in Dallas. GO MAVS!!!!!! That is all I have to post today!!!

It isn't over yet!

The Mavs are in a hard position right now. They lost that 2-0 lead and now it is 2-2. Okay, so the last game, they got spanked. I think it might be the kick they needed to re-focus. I surely hope so. I haven't given up hope though!!! Go Mavs!!!! It appears that they tend to win when I don't watch, so I might just flip back and forth tonight and not intently watch. I know -- supertitious of me :-).

This has been a pretty good weekend. Friday night was girl's night with Mia and Jen. We went to Monica's (great Mexican food) and then to the Velvet Hookah. I hadn't been there since last year -- I had forgotten how cool the place was. Now I don't remember the martini's costing so much, but I guess a girl needs to splurge sometime. Oh, yeah, and I got my belly button pierced. I was thinking about getting one anyway since I lost all that weight and my abs are starting to look the way I want them too. It really didn't hurt at all -- a bikini wax hurts more! So, at 34 I am starting to be cool :-).

Yesterday I got an ab kicking by Ryan (as opposed to a butt kicking). I think we talked too much during my ab workout though. Oops. We didn't get much of the other things done. That is okay, I really do feel it today. I guess Tuesday I should just keep my mouth shut and just get it done. He gets paid the same no matter what I do and I still hurt the next day, so it all really works out. Mia and I went to the mall Saturday night and had a blast. No tattoos or belly button piercings, but I did get a great new pair of shoes. I am kind of holding off buying new clothes because I am in between sizes and I just want to make sure I get a few more pounds off and they fit right. But the shoes rock! We had dinner at PF Changs (oh so good!) and just hung out.

My parents are coming over tonight for dinner (Father's day present). And then it is time to re-focus and get ready for the upcoming week. I start working out with Ryan 3 times a week starting now and that will hopefully get me to my goal and I can cut the cord so to speak. Well, I will probably keep him around, just won't see him 2x a week! I probably should just focus on the here and now with that though.

GO MAVS!!!

Wow, 2 and 0. I am pretty darn excited. I am going to watch the game tonight with Michelle in Irving. Haven't seen her in about a week, so it will be cool. Ryan is still sick, so there was no butt kicking tonight. I actually pulled out my Carmen Electra Strip Aerobics DVD. I hadn't done it in awhile. It was kind of nice to do dance moves -- it stretched out all those sore muscles. Dancing works you out in whole different ways and I truthfully was getting just too used to that darn elliptical. I do hope he feels better on Thursday, mostly for selfish reasons because I need a good weight workout :-).

I sat through a morning Worker's Comp class. I know, very exciting. And not only WC, but Federal WC. Yes, even more exciting. The teacher did a great job and I did learn some stuff. I will be the WC queen in all due time. Hey, gotta be good at something :-).

Okay, time to get ready for the game. You know, look cute, but not look like you tried. Always, always fun!!! Jeans and a t-shirt go far (it is always cold in the place we are going, so jeans are necessary. Maybe even some winter clothes!!).

Lazy Sunday

I have pretty much slept all day. Very, very lazy day. I worked out hard yesterday and I am going to blame that :-). Poor Ryan wasn't feeling very good yesterday so it wasn't a normal butt kicking. I still got a work out, but I was kind of worried about him! I told him I was expecting a butt-kicking on Tuesday. I am still sore, but it wasn't our best session. Luckily, since I am an established client, I understood. Salsa, however, did kind of kick my booty. Dancing in 3 inch heels will do that to you. We learned turns and the right one was not working for me! You have to do this pivot thing and I just wasn't getting it. Well. It felt like I was about to fall down every time! Slowly, it worked. Once we sped it up, man, I was all over the place! It will take practice, but I will get it down. There is a Salsa Social on June 23. That should be fun. Mia and I plan to go and get some practice in.

I went to see "The Break-Up" on Friday night and I thought it was pretty good. I laughed a lot and it was just a nice end to a week. Jen looked stunning, as usual. And Vince was hysterical. Loved them together.

Well, I have to run. Have a great Sunday evening!

GO MAVS!

As I type, the 1st game of the NBA Finals are beginning. I will try to watch it all. It depends on how stressed they make me. I feel Dallas can take it all, I just have to take breaks from the action!!!! I am a dork, I know :-).

Okay, I have to admit something. I knew that the Branglina baby pics were being published in People tomorrow. Now, we all know how I feel about these two...... but I thought, might as well take a peak at the little bambino. I took a look at People.com and there she was with momma and daddy (no commentary of the relationship......). Well, um, she's a baby all right. I don't know what I was expecting. Maybe a halo considering how heralded her birth was. She is a cute baby. No halo. Chloe was actually cuter at birth (and still so absolutely beautiful, by the way!). I know I am biased because Chloe is family, but I stand behind my statement. So, media, let Angie do her goodness and let them raise the baby in peace. Shiloh isn't saving the world. Let's just let her be a baby. And while I am on the subject of baby pictures, does anyone find it weird that we have not seen any pictures of Tom and Katie's baby. You would think that would be just as hot as baby Branglina. I have a theory on that whole thing, but I will keep it to myself.

So, other than surfing the net looking for baby pictures, there is really nothing much going on. Work is picking up. I am learning more and more each day and it is all pretty cool. I love the fact that I work with a lot of knowledgeable people who I can just learn from. I work with a woman who knows this stuff like the back of her hand -- she doesn't even have to look it up the books, she can just tell me where to look and there it is. I like that. I haven't even heard anything from my old co-workers. I even sent an email to Mary to give her my new email address. Last week. I have yet to hear from her. Yeah, I guess they miss me a lot. Eh, I have a good place now and I am much happier. They can stew in their disfunctional relationship with the client.

Mom and I are going to see "The Break-up" tomorrow night. Can't wait! I don't think I can get her to go see the Omen (actually, I can't get MYSELF to see the Omen. I will see scary movies, but movies dealing with the devil are way out of my realm of wanting to see. I can explain all that later!).

Progress

We did a re-assessment tonight at my session. In the last 2.5 weeks I have lost 2% body fat and gained a pound a muscle. It was pretty cool. My hips still haven't budged - it is weird since my clothes are fitting looser. Oh well. I will take it. All that time of the elliptical has paid off!! I am pretty tired right now. I was going to watch a movie but I think I might hit the bed early. I should have all this energy from working out and eating right, but truthfully I am just tired all the time!

Not really too much to report. I had a good weekend. After working out with Ryan (still sore, by the way) I went to Salsa lessons. I was supposed to meet Jen and Mia there but they had emergencies come up and couldn't make it to the studio (at least they weren't abducted by aliens which was my first thought :-)). While all we did were the basic steps, it was still tiring and made my legs hurt. I am looking forward to learning more and getting good at the dance!!! I rested Saturday afternoon and then that night watched the game with my neighbor. She had stopped by to pay a huge compliment -- she had seen me leaving that morning and wanted to say how great I looked. Seriously, you never tire of hearing that! After the Mavs WON (Go MAVS!!!!), I headed out to meet some friends at a local club. I stayed out a little too late and was pretty useless Sunday. Sunday was Mom and Dad's Anniversary, by the way! 35 years -- woohoo!!!

Well, that is my Monday report!

Salsa! (The Dance not the condiment)

I was at the gym today and what new class have they added (kind of gave it away in the title!). Salsa is coming to my gym. I was so happy I almost didn't see Ryan when he was leaving the gym for his break. Now, you know I was really excited! I am not sure how you do salsa as a gym class but we will see. I will be there next Thursday night! And it is a fun new way to do cardio. Seriously, the elliptical is starting to bore me. I am seeing results so I keep at it. And along with the salsa lessons on Saturday with Mia and Jen I will have alternatives to the elliptical cardio workout.

I had a whole entry yesterday and when I went to publish it, it disappeared. Where it went, I have no idea. But I guess you will never know about my weekend now, will you :-). It was good, by the way. And I found a swimsuit that covered my belly but showed off my back. It was actually pretty cute. I was happy.

I had lunch with my dad today at a cute little sandwich place in downtown Dallas. I never would have gone there had he not shown me. And they have a great grocery store next door. It is close enough to power walk to during lunch (only have 30 minutes) and get some things. Since it is getting hotter and hotter, I really don't see myself doing that anytime soon. I have this feeling downtown will be a scorcher.

Well, I guess that is all for today. Worked, worked out, now relaxing. I might go out tonight but not too late. Geesh I am getting old :-).

Go Mavs!!!!!!

Saturday, May 27, 2006

Well, I guess nothing interesting has been happening since last Saturday! I can't post at work and sometimes at night I am just too tired. It really has been a low key week. I went to watch the Mavs on Wednesday night with Michelle. We lost, but that is okay. I get this feeling this series will come down to the last possession on the 7th game. It will freak me out and stress me out! I watched last night, but it was the last few minutes. I seem to be in a movie weekend now though. I just finished watching "Fun with Dick and Jane". It was very cute. I do recommend it. And it was very timely with the Enron juries returning guilty verdicts this week (in the movie, Dick's company goes under due to some seriously unethical leadership). And the last line of the movie was pretty freakin funny. I also watched "Derailed". I was kind of disappointed in the movie, but it did have some twists that I didn't see coming.

No Ryan today. He is on vacation this weekend so I got somewhat of a break. He wasn't sure I could survive without him, but I convinced him I'd be fine. Actually, I just think he didn't want to drive to Houston..... Probably had nothing to do with me :-). I did do cardio this morning. I hate cardio though. I would much rather be but through a booty kicking for an hour than 30 min. on that elliptical. But I am getting closer to my goals, so I have to keep it up. Darn swimsuit season....... Speaking of which, I do have to go buy a new one this weekend. Monday's plan is to hang out by the pool all day with Michelle and her friend Megan. I have already bought the sunscreen in anticipation. But that is also why I will be on the elliptical machine tomorrow and Monday morning. If I just go when I wake up, I will have it done for the day and I can go on with my life.

Great Accomplishment

I did another assessment today with Ryan and the push is actually paying off. It doesn't seem like it is toooooo much but any progress toward a goal is a good thing. I was down 3 lbs, lost some inches in the hard to budge hips and even lost a little more in the neck (that one always makes me laugh when he measures it. Seems like he is trying to strangle me). I dropped a percentage in body fat. I didn't gain any muscle, but that is okay. So, this is a good platform to remember that my goals are attainable and that it is all in my control. I have even cut down the alcohol consumption because those are evil calories. We had a good workout today, but it was my third time to see him this week, so we did kind of take it easy (well, as easy as he will let me get away with :-)). There was no holding me down in a lunge position while I tried to hit him........

Work is going great. I am soooooo happy now. Everyone is very nice and I actually feel like I can use my brain. And, again, it is HR stuff. Wow, what a concept. It was kind of slow this week, but I am sure once everything gets into full swing, I will not have moments in my day where I am actually bored. I have this feeling, beginning next week, I am going to be just trucking along. I have done a lot of reading on the government and their HR policies, grievance procedures and all the intricate things I need to remember. It definitely will be a challenge, because there are so many things to consider and consequences to each action we propose. I have a good resource in learning this stuff and you can bet I will take full advantage of it. I have learned more about the government in this past week then I have in my entire life (and I have a Political Science degree!). Really, those .gov websites are full of very interesting things (and this is all the stuff that is available to the public). You really should check that stuff out..........

Well, I am going to rest and then take Mom to a movie this afternoon. Since I had to leave last Sunday (Mother's Day), she kind of got gipped in the mommy day stuff. So, today is movie and dinner.

Oh, Michelle's birthday was on Thursday, but I didn't post that day, so happy belated birthday to her!!!!!!! We had sushi last night in honor of the big day. :-)

Ouch, Ouchy

Okay, I have never said a bad thing about Ryan even though he kicks my booty every week. Today, I actually got as close as I have ever to hating the boy. He HURT me. He was holding me in the lunge position and while it is a "good burn" it still hurt like freakin heck!!!!!! I was seriously close to actually crying (I had to hold it for 25 seconds. Doesn't seem long, but trust me, this hurt). I liken it to the 10 mile hike. Yes, I feel a sense of accomplishment, but I won't admit it that same day. I made it through, tried not to curse him out and made it home in time to watch American Idol. I think I might need a bubble bath before the season finale of Law and Order:SVU. That and lots of ADVIL!!!!!!

I went to VA on Sunday and orientation was on Monday. I was very impressed with the orientation process. It was one of the best I have sat through. Even better than those I have created......... And while I didn't see a lot of the area, it was very much in love with all the trees on the way from the airport to the hotel. I flew back last night and was actually rather nauseous. It was a smooth flight too. I don't know what happened. I woke up feeling much better. And I had full access to the computer today. All is good. I have meetings this week with the OASAM (don't ask -- I can't remember what it means). They are the HR department and I will be working closely with them. It is good to get in good with them!!!!

Okay, bubble bath time. Later!

Still going good!

Yes, my second day was as good as my first. I still don't have computer access, but really, who does on the first or second day on the job! I got my space a lot more organized today and kind of feel like it is my cube now. Plus, I might was well get everything organized now since once I get going I might be begging for time to make files!!!!

This will be short since I need to go get ready for dinner with Mia and Jen. It will be very nice to see the gals! I know they will appreciate baby pictures :-). I did my cardio so I am now more awake. It is amazing how tired I was today and yesterday after working all day. Being off for a week kind of throws you out of the rhythm of working 8 hours a day. I am lucky I had 2 days and then a weekend!

Well, off to decide what to wear!!!!

Thursday, May 11, 2006

Oh, I am so happy!

My first day is officially over and I am home and happy. I think this was a good move and I will be there for a long time. I did a lot of reading today (good thing I know how to do that :-)). I met everyone in the office and they all seem very nice. And I started trying to figure out how it all fits together. It might take a few weeks (months maybe) but I will get it all down. And the commute is pretty nice. 18 minutes, door to door. I might not even take the train -- that would take longer really. And apparently there is a program where I can take parking money out pre-tax and save money. I will know more about that next week. If I get off work at 4:30, I can drive to the gym, get my cardio out of the way and then be home by 6ish. Very cool!!!

Other than that, nothing much to tell. I am kind of tired so I think a nap is in order. The Office has its season finale tonight and so that is my only big thing planned :-). Don't worry, I will do the cardio after that is over.

No, Really, I have an excuse!!

I know it has been forever since I wrote, but I was on vacation. Yes, my cousin had a computer, but I was on vacation from everything!!!

Baby Chloe was absolutely beautiful in person. It was fun to see her and the rest of the family. It was a pretty nice trip to CA. I went hiking on Saturday. Um, 10 MILES!!!!! It was a pretty view at the top, but 5 miles up hill takes it out of you. I was proud that I had the stamina, but body parts were trying to revolt. I still won't admit to Aunt Gail that I had a sense of accomplishment though :-). The hike caused an outbreak of the hives, but I kept popping allergy pills.

Aunt Gail, Mom and I went to the wineries in Jackson, CA on Sunday. I had always gone to Napa Valley so it was cool to see new ones. The first winery, which thankfully I don't remember the name of, was kind of bad. The first few tastings I did the "icky" face. You know, when you taste something bad. Gail reminded me that I probably should have turned around (away from the winery workers) if I was going to do that face. It wasn't subtle :-). All the other wineries we hit were great! I stocked my wine rack and I am good for awhile. I kept finding things I liked!!! The best name for wine that we saw was the "Brayzin Hussy Red". The winery was called the Bray. It has the best label too!

I start my new job tomorrow. I ran errands today and cleaned the apartment. I do feel ready for this next chapter in my life! My old job has already called me for 2 different things..... Okay, I think it is nap time. I already worked out today with Ryan, so I am all good. He was bright and early this morning. I thought when I set the time, I would get to sleep early enough the night before. Not so much. I couldn't fall asleep but really needed to see him this morning, so I went anyway. Kicked my booty, but it was worth it as always.

Getting Ready

I have my exit interview in 20 minutes. Not sure what they are going to ask and I am not sure exactly how honest to be :-).

I am also getting ready for my CA trip. I truly can't wait. I haven't been out there in a long time. And I swear, Chloe gets cuter every picture I see of her. I just want to hold her for the days I am out there.

Funny thing happened at the gym yesterday. I was training with Ryan. In the middle of our session, the electricity goes out. Apparently the entire block was out. Since I was in the middle of a shoulder press, I just kept going. They weren't kicking people out yet, so we just kept going. While it was getting a little hot (no air), I actually had a good workout. I even got a shoulder rub. He hit some good pressure points and I was a happy camper. I did, however, accidentally hit him with the leg machine. It was dark -- we'll blame that. I felt bad, but he swears I didn't hurt him. They finally started kicking people out right as we finished training -- it was really getting hot in there so I don't blame them. I am sure the liability rises during times like that!

Well, I have got to run. I think I have finally finished all the projects that need to be done for Mary and I have Wanda comfortably sitting in my chair. I might actually get to do the "I am leaving" slacking for a bit.

My new toy

I got my new Ipod today :-). Amazingly enough, I feel like a gadget geek now. It is a pretty iPod Nano and I am getting it ready for my trip to CA. Actually, I am making cardio playlists so I have 30 minutes of music when I hit the cardio machines. Might as well make it interesting. Ryan has upped me to 4 times a week. We did a reassessment yesterday. It wasn't good. It bothers me though -- I don't feel like those measurements said my progress was (does that make any sense!!!). The waist went down a little and the hips didn't move. Anyway, I do have to find the 24 Hour Fitness in Sacramento. I think there is a family member with a membership there so I can go as a guest. We are hiking as well. Ryan said he wants me running through the trails. Well, maybe that won't happen!!! I don't want to trip and break an arm........ And that would happen to me :-)!

Other than that, it has been a pretty mild weekend. I had a migraine yesterday, so I did nothing. I was supposed to go shopping with Michelle and her friend Megan. That obviously didn't happen. Today was a little more productive, so it wasn't a totally worthless weekend. Time to just veg and watch a movie.

My Secret is out

My boss came over when I had my blog up, getting ready to write. Kind of funny. It is the end of the day and we have covered a lot. She thought it was cool that I had one. Better than being mad that I was using the laptop for personal use. She is so cool. And I am not just saying that because she now has the url to my personal thoughts :-).

Training is going well. I really feel like I am in the way now. I can tell Wanda wants to just start going at it. I am torn between staying out of the way and doing everything I still do. I am giving up orientation tomorrow. That will be hard. That is my favorite thing. Sigh. But it is a good move and still the right decision.

Because of the Maverick's game last night, America's Next Top Model wasn't on until late. And I was pretty much asleep through the Daily Show. Needless to say, I missed ANTM but I am sure they will play it many times over. I did catch American Idol. I wasn't too sad to see the Pickler go. Again, cute as a button and I am sure she is a sweet heart, but seriously, the dumb thing was wearing a bit thin!!! She will do great no matter what. No real concern there.

I think tonight is cardio night and then just vegging. Training someone all day makes a person very tired!

Busy Week

Wow, sorry it has been awhile. I know all my fans have just been clamoring for news :-). It really hasn't been too exciting. I have been training my replacement. She started Monday. It seems like it was meant to be -- I find a job and she is available to come in and start. I have been sharing my personal space with a stranger and it is very odd. I told her that I would start taking my stuff down on Friday (sniff, sniff) so she can start making the cube her own. Pics of Paris will be headed home. They get a new space soon, so I won't be too sad!

I am going to VA on the 10th, not the 15th as first thought. So, I will get back from CA on Tuesday, fly out the next day for VA and be bright and shiny for orientation that Thursday. I will need a caffeine IV!!!! I am really looking forward to it though. I have never been to VA and so this will be cool!!!

Other than working, I can't say that it has been too exciting. I am seeing Ryan three times this week since the week after, I don't get to see him at all. I guess I can see him Friday before heading home :-). I just think he will miss me when I am gone. Tee hee!!! He looked so disappointed I was leaving him for a week ;-).

Well, I am going to head home now. I feel icky and gross and really just want to throw on shorts and cuddle with the kitties. Plus, America's Next Top Model is on tonight. Gotta watch the fun :-). And if Kellie Pickler does not get kicked off American Idol tonight, I am going to be seriously wondering about that competition. I missed last night due to training early, but I heard she was horrible. Seriously folks. What's up with that!!!! Sure she is a sweet gal, but I really can't stand the dumb blond act anymore. I have my Jessica Simpson moments, but really, a person can't be as dumb as Kelly acts...............

Two Week Notice

Today, I am giving my official two week notice. I don't receive the official offer letter until Saturday, but I know the amount and the offer is official. I want to make sure I give enough time to get all the training in, leave for my trip to CA to visit the family and then have a few days off when I get back. I would love to have a full week off before beginning my new job. Let's hope it works out that way. I do have to do a lot of documentation before I leave. Love the fact that I came in with nothing and I have to give my replacement all the knowledge in my head.

I wanted to write more, but I actually have to go! We are going to Foguo de Cho for lunch. Yes, a grand meat place as a vegetarian....... They say there is a great salad bar. Hey, free food is free food. Even if it is rabbit food.

Commercials that freak me out

Have you seen this new Jetta commercial in which people are talking and then all of a sudden are in an accident. It is emphasizing the safety factors, but it still just freaks me out every time I see it. It is nice to know I chose a safe car, but man! The Geiko gecko freaks me out too, but in a different way. I just don't like him...... Okay, just thinking about that random thing while sitting here.

I am going to be working from home tomorrow and hopefully will get a lot done. EDS is off so I might be able to actually get some projects done. That would be helpful. Most of my co-workers won't be in the office anyway, so working from home in my pjs is the best option.

I really have nothing else to report. I didn't hear from BAE Systems today. Let's just hope that is a sign that they are busy and not that I was 2nd! I know things move slowly through the system sometimes. Oh well, I won't stress. I still have plenty to do at my actual job :-).

2nd Interview

I had a second interview with BAE Systems today (the one that would be located in the OSHA office). I was one of two finalists and I am sure my bright smile and hire me attitude won him over. I seriously love doing the "and I have a Master's Degree" in the middle of a discussion like that. It is on my resume, but it is at the bottom. Would you read that far :-)? It is fun to slip in. I know it will get old soon (haha, no it won't!!!!). I think the interview went well and I will know something tomorrow. I still liked the place I interviewed with on Monday, so we'll see! Options are good.

Speaking of Master's Degrees, I got my diploma in the mail the other day. It is so pretty! I now need to get it framed. I do have a nice refund check coming from the IRS. Might need to use some of it to get a frame. I was going to buy an ipod as well (a selfish purchase that I really can't ever get in. Other stuff gets in the way). And some of it needs to be used in a proper manner (you know, pay off some stuff). However, I did get an idea this morning. Maybe I can actually invest some of it. Wow, how grown up of me :-). On the Today show they had ways to "make money while the gas prices shot up". They were going over stocks that will do well since they are sticking it to us at that pumps. Might not really be a bad idea. Dad, you can chime in here and give fatherly advise if you want. Or anybody else who knows about such stuff. I want to know more -- I want to be one of those sickening people you read about in Money magazines that have all this cash saved up and own a house.

Well, happy Wednesday!

Beautiful Sunday

It is absolutely beautiful outside and I plan to go and enjoy. I have been, but it was running errands. Now I am going to put on my walking shoes and enjoy some fresh air. It might not be the major cardio workout I need, but the sunshine will do some good.

I have an interview tomorrow and I had to go buy a jacket. Amazingly, I don't own one! Well, now I do, but I didn't have one before today. Kohl's is awesome. Got a $60 jacket for half off. Gotta love that place. The recruiter specifically said go suited, so I thought I had better get one. Luckily I already had the black skirt. I also found out today that I was wearing the wrong bra size. It is amazing how finding the right bra can make life seem so good. Random, but seriously true!!!!

Okay, gonna run. Have a great Sunday.

Lowkey Saturday

Had another assessment today at the gym. This morning on my scale I actually hit below the number I was trying to hit. I was so happy! Now, at the gym they weigh you with shoes and clothes on (one would hope!) and so it was a little higher, but still going the way we want it to. My calories were upped (yikes......) and the cardio adjusted, but I am very happy with the progress. Ryan then put me through a core workout that was torture. I don't think I will be able to move tomorrow. We only had 30 min. after doing all our talking and assessing. Boy can still kick my booty in less than 30 minutes. I have lost a total of 6 inches off my chest. Not the place I really want to loose anymore. It needs to start coming off the hips and thighs!!!! But we are getting there and I am happy about that.

Yesterday at lunch I had a little karmic payback. A co-worker and I went to the new Fox Sports Grille near the office. I ordered a Caesar salad (not the best thing for a diet really, but it was good). I had ordered salmon to go with it but when my meal came out, it wasn't there. The waiter said it would take about 10 minutes and they would bring it out. 10 minutes came, then 20. Finally, the waitress came by and made the comment that I never got my salmon. Keep in mind at this time, I have finished my salad, and really hadn't complained that I hadn't gotten the salmon. I figured as long as they didn't charge me for it, I was really okay. The GM comes out and says that the meal is on him. Well, okay, that is pretty cool. We were planning to come back anyway, but that just made all the warm and fuzzy feelings stay. Well, turns out he took care of the meal for my co-worker as well. So we owed nothing! It was pretty unexpected and very cool. We were already plotting the great happy hours we could have there, but that just made us a little more eager to go back. And don't worry, we left a nice tip. :-)

Same old stuff

And that really isn't a bad thing. I actually have had a few good days at work. I better not let it lull me into thinking I might want to stay..... I don't, it still isn't the right place to be. I had a meeting with an agency lady today. She wants to submit me to a position in Downtown Dallas. I think I can deal with that. I haven't heard from the interview last week. I need to send that follow-up email, because I really am still interested. Heck, I made a point to do the writing sample.

In case you were wondering, the car is okay. The indicator light, which in the VW handbook is called the Malfunction indicator light, but is really the dreaded Check Engine Soon light, was just a malfunctioning wire. No threat of blowing up the car, it is something VW had actually warned dealerships they were having problems with. In the scheme of things, it wasn't bad. I just had to stay at the dealership for 2.5 hours. It was a rush trip so I hadn't arranged to have anybody come pick me up. The shuttle service wasn't running once I got there. They have internet access at the dealership so I actually did some playing. I had my maintenance checks and oil changed while I was there and they cleaned my car for free. Always a plus.

Happy Monday Morning

The weekend came and went and here we are in a new week. So far, so good. Nothing too big to report. I had a great weekend. Saturday was the normal workout with Ryan. We did the speed ladder and that really worked me hard. In between running through the ladder, I had to do arms. I was very tired after that workout!!! The speed ladder is actually fun though. I tend to like that part of the workout best. I have decided that the challenge to Jen should not be the amount of pounds lost because I have wacky results from day to day. It should be the work out time in the gym. My goal this week is my normal 5x this week. I have to be there 2 times, so the rest is up to me. I didn't go yesterday but I danced all Saturday night, so that is more than enough cardio to make up for not hitting the gym. And yes, I am counting that as a cardio session!!!

I ended up in Denton Saturday night. Mia and I went to dinner at Primos Saturday night and were headed off somewhere else when she called her hubby. He was heading to Denton to meet some of his friends and so we just decided to go along. I drove from Dallas to their place in Lewisville and then we went to Denton. It was very fun. We ended up at this little club that had 80's night going on. Now I keep thinking how many of these kids were actually born when this music first came out! It was so much fun and we just danced and danced. There was some pool playing sporadically in there. We ended up leaving at 2:00 and then didn't get back to Mia and Brian's house until 3:30. So, I didn't get home until 4:00 (with the time change, that means it was 5:00AM). Needless to say, I was useless all Sunday. I did my writing sample for the job interview, but really, other than that there was nothing productive done. I feel better today and actually feel very energetic. I do have to go to dealership this afternoon because an indicator light came on. I don't think it is anything big but I want to get it checked out sooner than later.

Have a great day!

Hump Day!

I am working from home today since I have my interview in Downtown Dallas. There was no need to drive to Frisco and then back to Dallas at noon. Waste of gas and time. I have actually gotten a lot done this morning. I am getting kind of nervous about this interview. I always do. Can we just hope that this is it, they hire me on the spot and we all live happily ever after???? Then my soul mate is around the corner and we instantly fall in love? Okay, that is asking a whole lot :-). I'll just go in and be my fabulous self. I am very close to my number goal in weight loss so that is a very good thing. I have a lb to go and you can bet that darn thing will come off tonight at the gym!!!! I have been switched to the Stair Master. Why do I open my big mouth and ask whether we should change up cardio???? I do these things to myself. :-)

Well, I do have to get some more stuff done before I get ready for my interview. Wish me luck!!! Send good thoughts into the world.

Update: My interview today went pretty well. I really think this is something that would be challenging and interesting. The job would be onsite at the OSHA field office (located downtown) and therefore in a government building. Well, as most people know, with government buildings come pictures of the current administration. So, I would have to see Bush's face everyday, but I think the job be enough to transcend that....... I would also probably not get to be as vocal in my political viewpoints, especially at first :-). Or at least until I get in the door!!!

I do have a homework assignment -- they want to see how well I write. I was like, bring it on! After all the writing I had to do for school, 2 paragraphs will be a piece of cake. So, I will keep looking and interviewing, but I really liked the people I interviewed with and the people I met in the office. We'll see!

Pretty Good Monday

Not a bad day for a Monday. I got through work okay and that is a positive thing. This weekend was very good. Friday night I met the girls at Primo's for dinner. Saturday I went to see Saints and Sinners in Denton. I didn't realize they were playing (missed the memos I guess). I picked up Mia and we headed up to Denton. It was in a great little venue and they played a really good set. I think I sat a little too close to the front because my ears were ringing all the way home. Sunday was spent just relaxing.

I told my boss today that I was looking for a new position. She always wanted me to be honest with her and told me that if I did decide this was not what I wanted to let her know. Well, today I did. Guess since I have an interview on Wednesday, I kind of needed to let her know......! She was pretty cool about it and really very supportive. They are going to look for more of an operations person, which is what they need. And I have 2 headhunters looking for me and then that interview Wednesday. It is in downtown Dallas, so I might actually be able to take the train. It would be great to be able to actually take advantage of the limited mass transit we have here in Dallas. Plus, since gas is so freakin expensive now, it would be a great expense gone. Anyway, we will see what happens!

I am going to get ready to work out. I think it is elliptical night, not yoga tonight. I have energy that needs to get out of me. I think I lost my challenge to Jen. I actually gained a pound, however I did work out 5 days last week so I am pretty proud of myself. I doubt the cheese nachos on Friday did it, but we can blame them :-).

Friday, March 24, 2006

Friday!!

I am still in the office, but will be sneaking out in about 20 min. Not so much sneaking since there is no one really here anymore, but I have to pretend to be bad :-). I will stop by the gym, get in my cardio and then who knows what will happen. I don't really have plans but you never know. Michelle might be calling or I might be watching a Reese Witherspoon movie. Either way, it will be a good night. This week hasn't been too bad, but I told mom it isn't better enough for me to want to stay. It just isn't worth it anymore. Well, it hasn't been worth it in the past, but the last few weeks flipped the switch in my mind.

The gal who called me out of the blue to submit me to the Recruiting Manager left a message today that they offered the position to an internal person. So, that is off the table, but I have her submitting me for other positions. It is easier when you work to have someone do the busy work for you. I trust her not to screw me over as well. And who knows where the phone call yesterday will lead. The options are open.

Have a wonderful Friday evening!

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Almost the end of the week!!!

Yay! It is Thurday! I did have a short phone interview this morning, so that made me happy. Once I know more, I will spill more beans, but I tend to want to keep the excitement to a minimum until we get further in the process! Their benefits sound awesome and I would actually be doing HR Stuff. Wow. What a concept!!!!

Other than that, things are good. My 2 lbs was derailed just a bit last night with $1 pints at Two Rows. Didn't have too much but even one tends to add the water weight. I will just drink water and it will all be good. I plan to hit the treadmill tonight too, so I have no worries.

Oh well, that is it. Back to my fun........... It is very quiet here today. That might be good!

Thank God Monday is over. I don't mean to wish my days away, but work is my least favorite place so the time there is not allowing me to live to my full potential. Trust me, I am working on changing that. I don't feel that I am stuck there. I have options and I fully intend to explore those options. But that also means when I am away from the office, I need to enjoy what I do. It was so pretty today and getting out at lunch was definitely what the doctor ordered. I did hit the gym tonight and so now I am all full of energy. Tomorrow I have my session with Ryan and I really look forward to those sessions. He kills me, but it is all good. I read Jen's goal is 2lbs this week. Seems that has actually pushed a competitive thing in me although I am sure she didn't mean to :-). But it is there. She might not be in on it, but it is set in my brain.

Baby Chloe is still the most beautiful baby in the world. I really can't wait to just hold her. Everyone in CA is so lucky, they get to play and hold and just see her. Lucky, lucky people!!! And A&M didn't make it past the second round, but they did great in the game against LSU, so no complaints. I am behind in bracket points at work. I am almost afraid to say my top team for fear of jinxing! So, never mind.

Okay, gotta go. It is late and this is getting rather incoherent. I need to get ready for bed.

Welcome Chloe Emerson Durham

Chloe Durham was born yesterday, March 16th. She was born at 8:25 PM (PST). She also has a full head of hair (I guess that is no surprise since she 'cooked' long enough!!!). Absolutely beautiful baby. Congrats to Katie and Kenneth!!!!! Best of luck with the new addition to the family.

Chloe was born during the outstanding game between Texas A&M and Syracuse. That is some kind of sign........ A&M played well and pulled off an upset. Way to go guys!!!! They play LSU on Saturday. I am looking forward to another good game. I am actually 12 out of 16 in the pool. I thought that was pretty good considering I know nothing about the teams. We'll see how I do today. And, you can bet I rubbed in that A&M win to all my co-workers who picked Syracuse. Football season gave me no bragging rights. This at least gives me some joy :-).

Well, back to work. I actually have stuff to do........... o darn......

Thursday.... Oh Thursday

Oh, it was hard to get out of bed this morning. I was so tired. Still am actually. My latte hasn't kicked in yet. I wish there were fascinating things to report, but it has been an actually calm morning. We have our big presentation this morning (well, actually, my boss and a few others do) and it probably the calmest I have ever seen it. Very odd. We did our brackets today for March Madness. I have no idea about basketball so I was looking up teams last night after my workout. Texas A&M plays today (had no idea we actually made it to the tourney...... How bad am I!!!). Of course I am rooting for them :-). The gal sitting next to me is rooting for Syracuse (the opponent tonight), so it should be interesting. They play tonight so I might actually have to watch a game!

Well, guess it is time to actually work on all the stuff that was neglected during the week working on the presentation for the meeting. Truthfully, I just want to go home and go to bed, but that is another story!

Have a great Thursday. And, no, there was no baby during the night. So, until I say something, just assume the kid hasn't come yet :-). Really, really stubborn child already!!!!

No baby as of yet

I did receive a message from my mom that Katie was in labor, but that they were still at home so it would probably be awhile. Hopefully by this time tomorrow I will have some great news about the arrival of our new family member! It seems like there is a baby boom going on these days. I have heard of several couples either announcing they are pregnant or about ready to pop. That old cliche -- there is something in the water :-).

Nothing much to report. Work was fine until today and I remembered why I hated my job. The evil client reared her ugly head and decided to complain again. Really haven't even worked with this woman in the last few weeks and she still complains. I have no idea why she decided to be a witch today, but she was. It might be the full moon. She gets crazy about this time every month. But, her issues are her issues and I will just let my work speak for itself. We worked on a presentation all week which turned out pretty good. That was something I was proud of. But enough about work.

It is time for sleep. I did my cardio for the night and now I am coming down from the high. I will sleep well tonight! Later!

Nothing to Report

There is no baby yet. Today is my predicted day and we have a few hours before I am proved wrong :-). Mom booked the trip to CA (I think....) last night. At least she called to say she and Dad were working on it.

I will keep all posted. I have to get back to work!

No baby yet

Still no baby girl Durham. Katie might be in labor right now but I haven't heard anything just yet. So, in my world there is no progress. Not that I win anything if I am right about a Tuesday birthday but it would be nice to prove my intuition right. :-)

My water through the wall ordeal was pretty minor. Not very much come through. He cut the padding out from under the carpet, but there wasn't even too much to vacuum up. My neighbor's apartment is a mess. It was kind of like the day my water heater broke and I had just crap everywhere!!! Felt bad for her.

Well, nothing too much else to report. I met Michelle for dinner at Trinity Hall and it was a very nice night for the patio. Several older (and odder) men kept trying to pick us up. While flattering, it was kind of annoying. These aren't older men like the age I should be dating (as opposed to the younger guys I seem to attract). These are the older men that makes it kind of creepy. Mom and dad hiding me in the house kind of creepy. I am sure they are pleasant people, but I think I would be locked away.

Sunday night. Now it is time to wind down and relax. I plan to have a nice week, workouts, yoga, happy smiles, good work. Life will be good.

Man, Water Sucks!

My neighbor's washing machine broke and now I have water coming into my dining room. I never would have known either because I was happily asleep on the couch. This nice maintenance guy came banging on my door and made the discovery. There is a carpet crew on the way so I don't have to do anything and it really isn't as bad as Jen's super water experience (I won't get a cool new apartment out of it), but still kind of inconvenient. I was looking forward to a sleepy Saturday and now I will have loud machines sucking up water. Oh well. At least it wasn't MY washing machine. And it was the downstairs neighbor, not the upstairs neighbor. Silver lining :-)

My workout was very good today. We are starting to work the muscles I haven't been using. So I will be sore tomorrow. One of those where I won't be able to wash my hair! It was good though. I thought we were doing measurements today, but I guess I will have to wait until another day to report on those. His appointment after me cancelled so he actually went a little over with me. The joys of being an established client.

Happy Saturday. I am going to go back to watching movies, but I don't think I will get to go back to sleep until tonight. I expect loud machines soon.

PS - no baby girl Durham yet. 3 days over and counting. She is going to be just as stubborn as the rest of the family, I can tell :-).

The Countdown

Baby Girl Durham is still snoozing away and not wanting to join the real world. By my calculations, Katie now 2 days overdue. Not cheering misery on, but while we are waiting, we might as well have fun with it. You know what, I realize that the 21st is WAY too long for her to go -- they will have induced by then. I meant March 14th. I don't know why I thought it was a week later. I don't want her to go that long!!! That is just mean!

Okay, so nothing to spectacular again today. I plan to hit the gym and then I really don't know what I am going to do tonight. I really don't feel like going out, so I might just clean and go to bed early. Oh, the excitement is overwhelming, huh!!!

I will get $.03 of Karma

I was downstairs getting some food from the cafeteria when this lady next to needed 3 cents. None of her co-workers were bothering to even look. Now, I am not the richest right now, but I kind of figured that I could reasonably spare 3 pennies so she could buy her soda. On the way back upstairs, we joked about my good deed and the 3 cents of karma I will be receiving :-). (Okay, it was funnier at time)

Today is a better day. Not sure what the difference was -- maybe the sunny weather, the talks with family and friends or the valium taken before coming to the office. Okay, just kidding, really, no valium............

It hasn't been the most exciting day in the world. But that is okay. I am starting to feel the weightloss competition. But I joined 24 hour first! A gal at work just joined (and got herself a trainer). Jen just joined 24 and getting back into her workout routine. Guess I should stop getting complacent and step it up a notch. I do plan to do yoga tonight which will be good since my muscles are still sore from Ryan's butt-kicking Tuesday. I feel kind of done with the day, but I have at least 45 min. left, so I'd better get working. Just kind of tired now.

Katie was due yesterday with baby girl Durham. From what I can gather, she hasn't had her yet. Mom would have called. So, I think it is time to make bets on when baby girl will make her arrival into the world. I am going with March 21. That is next Tuesday. Sorry, I know you will be miserable Katie, but seems like a good day to me. :-). When I get pregnant, you can bet on my misery!!!

Hump Day

With the mood I was in today, I decided to say something good that happened and not dwell on the crappy day. One, I got the final confirmation letter for the Master's Degree. And I don't have to wait until May to say I actually finished. I just have to wait till May for my diploma. So, I now OFFICIALLY have the Master's. No surprises, no waiting, I can say it and put it on my resume. That ROCKS!!!!

2nd, I was driving home and not in that happy singing way. I looked over and this cute guy in a blue car was looking at me and waived/smiled before he turned. It was kind a nice ego boost. Small, but fun. It is funny to think that this guy will never know that he cheered me up a heck of a lot. It at least made me smile.

Well, other than that, nothing much else. I am going to play with the kitties before I meet mom at the Tempest Tea Room (very cool place -- a Starbucks for tea, so to speak). I am having dinner at my neighbor's place -- she asked me over yesterday, but I had my hot date with Ryan at 8, so I couldn't do it. And we all know that "hot date with Ryan" is code for the buttkicking workout (which it was, btw. But it felt good!)

Just another Tuesday

It was a pretty okay day. Nothing just too exciting. Invoicing crap made me remember why I wasn't happy in this job. But I have coping mechanisms in place to just deal. And I also got calls from headhunters with other jobs that kind of make a light at the end of the tunnel. The coolest thing happened yesterday. A gal that I worked with 5 years ago found my resume and actually has a job she wants to submit me for (she owns her own recruiting agency). It was just kind of nice for her to call me up, out of the blue and remember what I did that long ago. And she was like, I think you would be perfect for this job! Kind of cool. Okay, people will laugh. It is for Recruiting Manager. Yes, I know, I said I didn't want to do recruiting again.... but for what they want to pay, I can recruit again!!! So, we'll see. I figure the universe is starting to throw me some opportunities andI should explore them. I also think it is a testament to the fact that you never know what the future holds and so you shouldn't burn bridges in the present. That is why I am going to behave myself even in a job that isn't exactly what I want it to be.

Oh, the Joys of Monday

I decided to work from home today. I have some invoicing stuff to do so I figured the best thing to do was to do it in the quiet of the apartment. Yes, of course, I haven't been able to start, but I will get to it now. Hiding at home doesn't make people leave you alone......

The weekend was good. I stayed in Friday and watched movies. Saturday, I met up with a friend and got to enjoy PF Changs, a movie and some cuddling :-). It was pretty fun since I haven't actually gotten to see him in awhile (vacation for him). He was headed to Shreveport later that evening, but I decided to stay behind. I had lunch with mom and dad on Sunday and then I had some work to do. Plus, I have no money to gamble with. Dad's birthday was Friday so while I said happy birthday in real life, I am belated on the blog! I met with Michelle to help with her resume and ended up missing Jen's Oscar party. I missed my man (Jon Stewart), but I heard he did a great job. We ended up hanging out pretty late and Orlando came out with the group (oh, the friend has a name :-)).

Okay, so I have been tagged by Jen. My 7 favorite songs right now are:

1. Walk Away - Kelly Clarkson
2. My Humps - Black Eyed Peas (great workout song!)
3. Pump It -- Black Eyed Peas (again, great workout song)
4. Since You've been gone - Kelly Clarkson (this one is really good when you start to miss that ex!)
5. Dirty Little Secret - The All American Rejects
6 Dont Cha - PussyCat Dolls
7. Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani

Wow that was actually kind of hard. I like a lot. It will change tomorrow probably :-)

Hump Day

Yay, it is Wednesday. Keep having to remind myself of that! Feels like it should be Friday, but we have hit the back end of the week. We had a happy hour tonight with our former co-worker (the one with the shoes missing on the last day). It was pretty fun. I had a Boca burger and freaked them out because they thought I was actually eating meat. Silly people! It was a great happy hour and it was nice to see Michael. I made it to the gym as well, so it was a productive evening.

I got my final grades today. I end my Amberton career with a 3.5. I didn't do that well at A&M! I have officially completed everything. I have written proof. No more fearing something mysteriously will pop up that will make it not be true!

Good night!

Never tell your trainer you had ice cream....

Seriously. I cheat ONCE in the last few weeks and it was only a small thing of ice cream. However, no matter how much he tells me it wasn't punishment, I still feel the pain. At least I was honest...... :-0. Okay, so it could have been worse. He could have made me do 4 sets instead of 3. It was a great workout though. After the day I had, it really felt good.

I am finally feeling normal again. Yesterday I had a migraine so today wasn't the best. While I hate migraine days, the days after aren't fun either. So, there really isn't much to report. Saturday night's concert was great. Saints and Sinners is a great band. Can't wait for the next concert!

It is very odd, but I kind of feel a little lost now that school is over. I need to find a dance class or something. While the gym is a great place, Ryan still only allows me 20 min. cardio 3x a week. Something to do with the calorie intact and activity level. Some weird formula. He is the expert, so I will listen. He works me pretty hard when I see him, so the cardio schedule is okay with me. Anyway, I need a hobby. :-). Maybe I will take up knitting...... He, he!

Well, gonna run. Law and Order: SVU is on. I missed it while the Olympics were on!

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

Wow, It's Over!

I just turned in my last assignment for school. Ever. Wow! I am done!!!!!! I am done!!!! I am done!!!!!! Since there is still paperwork and based on the timing of things, I won't get the actual diploma until May, but my God, I have a Masters degree now. (Okay, yes, official grades have to come out, but unless I bombed this paper, I didn't fail!). Happy Dance!!!! It is hard to believe it all started a little over 2 years ago. And yes, I almost quit a few times -- especially towards the end. Thanks to Mom and Dad for their support (both emotionally and financially a few sessions) and my friends for putting up with this for the last few years. It is a nice accomplishment. Now I need a new goal :-) I look forward to celebrating with girls night on Friday and then at the Saints and Sinners concert on Saturday night.

Argh! The Sniffles!

I have been sneezing and coughing all day. It is horrible! One moment I am fine, the next I go into coughing fits. I feel fine enough to go to workout tonight - hopefully Ryan won't mind if I sneeze on him........ And Sierra has the sniffles too. Not that they are related :-). She may have to go to the vet. Do they have cold medicine for kitties? She is still active, so I am not too concerned. It is a toss up of who woke up who last night. I was coughing and she was sneezing. Simon slept on the couch :-).

I am going to work on my last assignment tonight. I have to include thoughts, feelings and experiences, so it should be easy. I don't have to reference myself :-). (I hate doing references. Not going to miss that!! Oh Jen, if you need a style guide reference book, I have one!!! Just thought of that. Sorry for the side note.) The quicker i get that assignment in the quicker I can start dancing around in pure joy........

The Weekend

Thai food rocks! I saved up all my calories so I could indulge and not feel guilty. My favorite dish is swimming in coconut milk and there is no way I am giving that up. I really do plan to hit the gym tonight. I will do a little more writing and head up there. Since it is Sunday night and very cold, I expect finding an elliptical will be no problem. I think my weight loss has stalled (don't bring up the Thai food......) and I really need to focus on hitting the cardio when Ryan suggests. I am getting stronger at the resistance training though. Very proud of myself. And I don't threaten to hit him as much as I used to. I am sure he appreciates that. He did get very quiet during my workout Saturday. It is kind of funny, I thought there was something wrong. Apparently, my form was just in good shape and he had nothing to yell out. Usually, it is hips tilted, abs in, you know.... that kind of stuff.

Okay, back to work. One more week.... or actually, less than a week and this is all over. Then what will I do??????? Have to get a new goal :-).

Happy Friday!!!

I know everybody is waiting for the great things I did on my day off. Well, I did nothing. It was the greatest thing ever. Oh wait, I did actually have to drive to get my nails done and then to meet Michelle at Cafe Express. We ate, did some shopping and then I decided I needed a beer. It was my birthday and doggone it, if I wanted a beer at 2:00 PM, I was going to have one. So, she and I went to Trinity Hall, a great Irish pub in Mockingbird Station (for any Dallasites who want to know where it is) and we sat on the patio. And sat, and sat. Oh, and sat some more. :-). It was the best day ever!! We moved inside, watched the Olympics, chatted with the waiter, Taylor came up to say Happy Birthday before disappearing again. We left there at 8:00 and I went home to change because I was going out again. My friend didn't get off until later so I didn't get to see him until after 9ish. So, Michelle and I went out again to Humperdinks with him and had a little more fun. I think at this point, I was just eating all the fried food and not worrying about beer. She left, he and I then left and it was the end to a perfect day!!!

Now I am laughing as my soon to be ex coworker looks for his boots. WHy the boots were off in the first place, I REALLY don't want to know. Today is his last day and so they are harassing him. One of the boots was actually hidden in my filing cabinet. He found that one already. Need to head back over there so I can witness more of the fun. Seriously, how much more work can I really do on a Friday afternoon.

This evening will more than likely be low key. I am going to hit the gym and then watch movies. Sleep maybe. that just sounds perfect. Next week and weekend will be high strung, so I need something low key. Oh, and I have to get together with the parents to celebrate the birthday. Thai food, here I come!!! BTW, "Rent" comes out on DVD Tuesday. I am just saying........ Since my friend is out of town this weekend, I won't have to worry about seeing him. (I know everybody knows what 'friend' means, but I am in no way ready to talk about it. Sorry mom :-)).

Have a happy Friday!!!!

Happy Birthday to me????

Wow, the day has finally arrived. One year older. Guess it is good that I don't feel too much older than yesterday, but this week has caused a lot of reflection. I won't go into the gory details here, but really 34 is a hard number to say. That is why I am going back to the 7th anniversary of my 27th birthday. Much better! And I think it is now time to go get my nails done this morning. I am having lunch with Michelle so that should be fun. And hopefully dinner tonight at Blue Fish. Maybe, possibly, if we time it right!

I want to also wish Mia a happy birthday!!!!! I told Katie that since her baby is actually considered full-term she could have her earlier than the due date and give me a cool birthday present. She actually didn't go for that idea!!! Oh well. There is a whole day for that baby to come. :-)

Well, off I go. Have a great Wednesday!

The Somewhat Interesting Weekend

Nothing major happened, but it was a rather nice weekend (so far). I was supposed to meet a friend on Friday night, but he was unable to so we rescheduled for Saturday night. I then thought I was going to get a nice evening in with the sweats and movies. Well, then my upstairs neighbor comes over and asks I want to join her and her friend for dinner. I had already eaten, but it sounded like fun so I decided to join them. We went to a great place called La Duni. Very good food, great atmosphere and desserts to die for. I only had 2 bites of the cake, but oh my, it was heaven. Next time I think I will go just for dessert and coffee.

Yesterday was just a Saturday. My chair dancing class that I wanted to take was cancelled. I was kind of looking forward to it, but no biggy. I just hit the elliptical. The friend I had to postpone with on Friday called and said we could see each other, he just had to bring his daughter since his mother/babysitter wasn't going to be around. Well, I wanted to see Curious George and that just seemed perfect. Sorry mom, saw it without you. It was so cute! I really did more laughing than the 3 year old. It was a nice evening and the kid liked me. So that is good! Apparently all you have to do is wear dangling earrings and buy her popcorn. I also remembered that I have used the panting of the toe nails to settle little ones down, so maybe I need to carry a bottle in my purse.

okay, its just going to be a Sunday. Nothing too exciting. Errands, writing, cleaning, watching movies. Oh, yeah, I do have to go to the gym. Popcorn and skittles are not diet food, believe it or not :-)

Have a nice Sunday!

Thursday, February 09, 2006

I just got back from the gym because I had to cancel Tuesday's meeting with Ryan. I normally don't go on Thursdays, but had to get my torture in this week. He is going out of town this weekend so I don't get to see him until next week. We did measurements tonight. Not sure what is going on, but it wasn't as dramatic as last time. There were a few inches lost but not as much as in the beginning. He upped the cardio because it seems the weight loss isn't what is should be. He also upped my calories by 100. Um.... We've fought about my calorie level previously!!! Luckily he likes to fight back. And he wins since he is the expert. My weight seems to flucuate during the day because I weighed 7 lbs less this morning. But he has to put the weight that I give during our session. Boo!!!!

There was a funny thing that happened at the gym today. Ryan was showing me something on the exercise ball when the man asked whether he was done with it. Well, considering we are obviously in a training session and he is obviously showing me something, NO we aren't done with the green exercise ball!!!! Then he whines that he can't find another. Sorry, not our fault you can't find one, but stop complaining. Really, I deal with complainers all day. Don't need it at the gym (unless it is me and he is hurting me....)

Since he is going to be out of town on Saturday, I plan to take one of my AOED classes. They sent out an email -- $20 off a class. There is Chair Dancing on Saturday. I haven't done a class in a long time, so I thought this was perfect. I need that womanly boost these classes give. I can also hit the Pilates class at the gym since he won't conflict with that time. And I thought of what I might do on my birthday. My favorite spa sent a coupon for my birthday and I think I might just get a facial. That seems like a nice pamper thing to do.

Well, happy Thursday.

Hump Day

Thank God it is Wednesday. Meaning tomorrow is Thursday and my week is almost over. Another week from Hades. Almost had a good streak going of somewhat good weeks, but seriously emailed mom and asked her whether she and dad could float me if I quit and looked for another job. It really almost got to that point. Seriously this place is NOT healthy!!! ( Nobody at work knows I have a blog, nor know where to even look, so I don't feel too bad about venting here. )

I did get a text message from a girlfriend of mine who just started a new job and seems to really like it. I joked that I would like to work there and she said they are looking for an HR Manager. Hum..... :-). And I had a meeting with my favorite Professor yesterday, Dr. Watson. She is going to help me get back on track and figure out what I am going to do after I finally get my Master's degree. I feel a little more empowered now. But, I am not at the place I want to be and you should really be surprised if I stay past the summer. I know I am where I need to be at this time.... Learning lessons, blah, blah blah. But think I can learn them much quicker in a place that doesn't make me want to slit my wrists.

On the brighter side of the world, my birthday is next week. He, he. I am taking that Wednesday off, because I need a day off (don't you dare ask why!!!). I have assignments due the next day, so truthfully I might spend the day working on that then go out that night. I really need to figure out what I am going to do for my actual birthday though. Mia shares the same birthday. I think I am only like 2 hours older than her. For those of you who really want to know we are celebrating the 7th anniversary of our 27th birthday. And we don't look a day over 25 :-). Sorry, Mia, outed you on the age. Hope you didn't want to keep it too much of a secret!

Okay, I have to go. I went to the gym right after work so I need to get cleaned up and started on the Manipulation paper.

Weekend Ramblings

Ah, the joy of the weekend! It has been pretty good so far. I got to have Mexican food last night -- super margaritas. I was also pretty productive. I actually held an Iso Ab at the gym yesterday for the full time. Trust me, it is a good thing. That means my core is getting stronger. I can't describe what an iso ab is (just think torture.....), but since I hit my tail bone, I hadn't been able to hold one. And, I held it after a full workout so that is even better. Those things aren't easy. Jen, I hope you know what I am talking about so you can confirm the torture factor :-). I did have a little too much last night (chips, cheese enchiladas, etc. ) so I need to be a good girl today. Which means I should substitute the diet Dr. Pepper for water.....

I am going to meet Jen and her David (like there are any other Davids in our world!) at a place by her to watch the Super Bowl. I am not a huge football fan.... Okay, unless it is A&M, I am not a football fan. But there is something about the SuperBowl that makes me want to watch. Basically I ignore the game and watch the commercials. And, I get to hang out with friends. That is pretty much the reason I go anywhere to watch it. Left up to me at my place, the TV would be on something else.

Okay, well enough of the ramblings. I want to get some school work done. What does it say about me that the section on manipulation is the one I am really focused on right now........? :-) And I have a research paper to start preparing for. 3 weeks and it is all over!!!!

I really think Ryan is trying to Kill me!

I just got back from my Tuesday session with Ryan and he pushed me harder today than I have been pushed in awhile. Well, maybe I was pushing myself some, but we can blame him. I feel good but I am STARVING now. I am also pumped up so I expect to get a lot of work done today.

Other than that, there is nothing too fascinating at this time. It is crunch week so I am pretty much in for the next couple of days. This weekend I will cut loose and have fun! Not sure what is planned, but I will have to do something.

the weekend

The weekend has been good so far. A few exciting moments thrown into reading, cleaning and watching movies. I finally decided to go to fish and had SUSHI on Friday night. Yes, true, fish sushi. Oh my, how I missed Unagi!!! I had been thinking about it for awhile -- adding fish back into my diet -- so this was just a good time. No there will be no red meat or chicken thrown in there, so don't ask! Fish won't be all the time because really, if you haven't eaten it in a while there is a serious fishy taste.

I was reading school work yesterday and came across a HUGE error -- have to write a letter to the editors on that one. They were talking about nonverbal communication and what certain things mean to different people. The discussion of the thumbs up came and the quote from the book is "although the same gesture means 'hook 'em' to students at TEXAS A&M". NO,NO,NO,NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if you don't know anything about Texas schools, an editor of a college text book should get that fact RIGHT!!!!!!! (To those who don't know, it means "Gig 'Em" to the Aggies. Hook em is a totally different gesture) Argh. So, if they get that wrong, what else are they getting wrong! I can guarantee my professor won't care, so I am just going to get the address of the publishing house.

So, off to work I go. Have a Happy Sunday. :-)

Funny of the day

My boss sent an email to me this morning saying she wanted to meet with me tomorrow morning at 7:30. We are reviewing invoicing 'crap' as I like to call it. The funny being "Meet me at 7:30". I asked her if she was okay with me being in my Happy Bunny Pajamas...... I am not a morning person. .....

It has been one of those days. Lots to do. I feel productive, but there is so much more I can do. I did get to lock myself in Mary's office today so I didn't get as many distractions as I normally would. There were still distractions though!!!

Gonna run!

Okay, I am never allowed on a scale again. Ryan has dictated. I had one of those days where nothing was going right and I truly didn't feel like I had the progress I should have. He was very sweet, listened to me and then told me the scale was banned. He also said I had to eat more. I didn't meet my calorie quotient today and he actually said I had to eat the remainder before I went to bed. yeah, right. I just wasn't' hungry today. Which is a shift from the ravenous days when I can't stop eating. Anyway, I am on track, I was just having on of those PMS days.

Went to see Hoodwinked on Sunday with Mom. It was a very cute movie. I actually love kids movies because the adult jokes are pretty freakin hilarious. They even wove in classic SNL into the script. I recommend it to those just looking for fun mind candy. And the kids in the theater were pretty well behaved. And, believe it or not, it actually had a good message to it. Make sure you don't jump to conclusions and get all sides of the story.

Ouchie

I fell on my tail bone last night and it really hurts right now! Seriously, 3 inch heals and a puddle of water don't mix. I had one or two beers but not enough to allow gravity to pull me to the earth. It was a nice slip and down I went. I still went to see Ryan this afternoon even though it still hurt but he was able to modify the workout and we even did some stretching of the area. It was funny when he asked exactly where it hurt -- I told him I would wait until we got to the back of the gym to point at the spot on my booty. He wasn't feeling particularly 100% today but he still pretty much kicked my butt. All while avoiding the part that hurt from injury. Dude is good :-).

Now it is homework, cleaning house and a possible to trip to Super Target. If you don't hear from me in a few days, you might need to come look for me. Actually, I guess if I don't show up for the movie with mom tomorrow she will know where to come get me. We are going to see Hoodwinked. I will give my review tomorrow. I really want to see "Transamerica" with Felicity Huffman. She is such an awesome actress and I have heard it is a good movie. It might not be a Mom movie, but it might be a Jen and Mia movie (possibly, maybe???). Or, I will just go see it myself!

Have a great weekend!

Randon Wednesday thoughts

Where did the time go??? I have my three assignments due tomorrow and while they are in draft form, I get so anal about papers, I will be up forever!!! Did I really say I would get them turned in all early??? Again, they are mostly written, but I have to make sure they are perfect so I end up not sending them in until the wee last minute. At least I have enough energy to last me into the night.

In other news, I had to endure the loss of my badge for work. I have NO idea where that thing went -- probably a victim of the cats running off with it. For all the security in that place, it was very easy to replace. I was surprised. I looked everywhere for that darn thing, but it was no where to be found. Now that I have a new one, you know it will appear out of nowhere!!!

Well, I had better get to work. I met a girlfriend of mine at Mi Cocina (oh the great margaritas!!!) so I am ready to get going the rest of the evening!

Oh, and Katie sent a mass email regarding the baby's name -- they are thinking Olivia . Love that name!!! Is it too late to claim that one along with Emma :-). Probably so. Anyway, they are getting close to the birth! I know she is ready for the baby but I am pretty sure Aunt Gail is jumping at the bit for that grandbaby :-).

And I hit that 10 lb mark in weight loss. The holidays slowed me down, but I am back to business. Ryan seriously kicks my butt. It is a good thing :-)

Monday, Monday

Okay, I have the day off today for MLK, Jr. , but it is most likely going to be spent typing papers. Oh the joy. It is a good thing to have the entire day though. That way I am not up doing all nighters and can at least get some sleep.

There really is nothing just fascinating going on. I did go out with Michelle Friday and last night. Wow, what a rebel I am :-). Today has to be a "responsible" day since I have deadlines looming. Not a bad thing really. It just focuses me back to where I need to be.

Well, that is really all I have today. Have a wonderful Monday!

In case you are wondering......

The Sierra Club opposes Alito's confirmation too. Got that email today. :-) My SPCA email didn't say anything about Alito, but you never know how the cats and dogs will go. He, he!

Okay, so I am down 4% body fat. 4 inches in the waist and 4 inches in the chest. Few inches in the thighs as well. He, he! Ryan re-took my measurements today since apparently Tim didn't key in my last measurements...... oops. I think Ryan has been charged with making me happy since my experience with losing the first trainer and nobody telling me. I have his cell number (never had Tim's) and he goes the little extra to make sure I feel comfortable.

That is it for today. Nothing too fascinating happened. Work was good but this allergy attack is just making me miserable. At least I am getting over it! Supernatural is on -- since the Office and My Name is Earl moved to Thursdays, I get to watch it in a first run basis. If you haven't seen it, it is very good. Freaky scary, but good. (However, starting next week, I have the 8:00 slot with Ryan, so I will have to record it anyway.).

Alito Hearings Begin today

As I sit here and read CNN, Alternet.org, and all the emails from my pro-choice groups, I am reminded that today is the day the Alito hearings began. Everyone knows he is the Supreme Court nominee chosen by Bush to replace Sandra Day O'Connor. Most of my readers know my main issue with anyone chosen to sit on that court. A woman's right to privacy (actually anybody's right to privacy) is a huge deal with me and I need to get my head out of the sand and watch this thing that is going on. Sometimes my own little world prevents me from seeing the big picture (only ever so often though!) Alito might be the best we have -- who knows. And you know with the class on persuasion, I will be testing all my theories on you guys :-). (Needed to add some levity. Hehe).

Later!
