And then there was cable......

The cable man came today and finally set it up. I still don't know why they can't switch the signal -- I could set up the equipment. It isn't that hard. Anyway, thanks to my fantabulous man for waiting for the cable man. It kept me from having to take PTO. That PTO can be better utilized elsewhere!

Yesterday afternoon I had a presentatition for the Area Directors and Assistant ADs. It went pretty well -- at least nobody told me it stunk :). It was short and sweet and got me away from the office. The funny part of the meeting was that everyone seemed to know me, but alas, there is one of me and 20 of them. So, I had to ask who certain people were. I hardly ever see them, so really, it isn't too realistic for me to know them all!!!

So, now that everything is over at my new place, the challenge will be to get it all set up the way I want it. I guess if I have gotten along with out it this past week, I might just take the box and throw it out. I just want to make the 2nd bedroom as functional as possible pretty soon. And I never want to move as much crap as I did this time.

Okay, well nothing else is going on today! The oh so interesting plan is to turn in the keys to the old place, go to Spin class (Ben, the butt kicker, is teaching so I am looking forward to it!) and come back to watch some much missed cable. Nope, I am not an addict..... I do have to set up the DVR for Shark Week.... It is a Mike thing :)>.

The Weekend so far.....

I got to pick up my dress for Jen's wedding on Saturday and it so beautiful. Not to sound super conceited but I look pretty darn good! It fits pretty good and it seems no alterations are needed. I need to make sure the arms stay super toned though. I kind of don't see that as a problem :).

After picking up my dress, Jen and I went to lunch at Souper Salad (always yummy) and then shopping at Target! I always get a Target high when I go there. It is kind of funny. I think they pump something into the air in that store! Anyway, I had to get a few new things for the place and you know I just had to twist her arm to go with me. Jen and David did a wonderfully sweet thing and got me an apartment warming Target gift card. It was totally unexpected and so sweet! It was also put to good use! :)

I finally finished cleaning the old place but I have cleaning supplies still over there. My asthma was kind of kicking up so I needed to come back and get some rest and medicine in me. After my work out with Ryan, I will head back over there to get it. I just want it done.

Friday!

Why does it always happen? Friday afternoon hits and I am just done working. I know I have at least one or two things to work on, but I worked hard all week. I don't want to do it! (I will, but that doesn't mean I have to like it). I am also having to listen to noisy, obnoxious cube neighbor. She is exceptionally loud today. I want to throw things at her head. But I won't -- I want to keep my job and avoid criminal charges. :). I think I heard her say she is leaving at 3:00. Am I that lucky????

I have a lot to do in the apartment this weekend. So tonight I will be working out right after work and then to get some stuff done in the old place. Mike is coming over tonight but I don't feel like cooking. Honey, if you read this before tonight, we might be eating out :). It does seem like a packed weekend -- and I have to finish Harry. I am so close! And it is so good. Plus, I want to finally go online and read what other people think.

Well, that seems about it. I met some more neighbors last night. They own Bob, the cute grey kitty who hangs out outside. He is a sweetheart! He'll come up and just love on you. They have a dog too. Hyper little thing! Oh, and a little boy. I had seen him around playing outside. (There are lots of kids were I live now).

I finally have internet!

I need cable but well, one step at a time!

I still have some things to do at the old place. I think this weekend will be the time to do it. Well, It has to be since I have to turn in the keys Tuesday. I just really want to stay in and finish Harry Potter. I am almost done and the book is great so far! Which means I won't be on my newly acquired Internet connection for long :).

Yesterday a horrible explosion occurred in Downtown Dallas at a gas facility. I would have seen it from my office window had I been in the office. But I was in Mesquite at our Education Center. The smoke was still terrible when I got back to the office. They didn't evacuate our building since we weren't in the immediate vicinity of the blast. I do know they closed any outside vents and went to circulated air to keep any air contaminants out of the building. It was a pretty scary thing and thank God only 3 people were injured. I am not sure of the extent of the injuries but something like that could have had a lot of fatalities.

Okay, time to go back to my Harry Potter book! Later!

Mostly Moved in

There is still stuff at the old place. Just a few things and the cleaning supplies. I think my stuff multiplies over night in the old place. Because every time I think it will be one more trip, it isn't. But I haven't been to the gym since Wednesday, so I am going tonight right after work. I don't think I can wait for the 7:15 Kickboxing class. I just want to get in, do cardio and get out. I know I haven't been sedentary since my last visit to the gym, but I really need to get back into my routine. I still feel out of sorts but it is slowly getting back to normal. I am close to getting my kitchen up and running so I am happy about that.

The cats are slowly getting adjusted. Here is how things went Friday: They got locked in the old apartment bathroom until the movers got everything out. I wasn't worried about them running out the door, but they were getting scared and all the hiding places were disappearing. Then, we move them to the new apartment. And they immediately hid. Sierra comes out first and is very vocal about her feelings. Then she goes and hides. They hiss at each other. Then Simon comes out and just starts chattering away. That cat will not hush up! It is cute for awhile, but after awhile, I just need some peace!!!

Well that is is for now. I bought the new Harry Potter book Saturday and I am trying to steal as many possible moments to read it. It is great so far. And yes, I am still trying to avoid spoilers!

Move Day

Okay, I am waiting for my movers to arrive so I can get the big stuff and some boxes to the new place. Their time frame is between 7 and 11. I am okay with that because well, there was still stuff to do. Even once they get done with their stuff, I will still have stuff to move over. It is just a fun, fun time. I wanted to do it early though because it is relatively cool right now. It is funny to think that I should actually be at work right now. I still woke up at the same time, so there was no difference.

I am also getting excited about the new Harry Potter book. I didn't think I'd be as excited -- I'd read it and be done with it. But I truthfully want to read it before any spoilers get out! I want to read it for myself!!!

I know I have more to blog about but I can't really think right now. My head is spinning. I did manage to get all my services switched over and I even got a free Wireless gateway so I can set up wireless in the new place (after rebate, of course. They make you work for the free stuff :)).

Movers just called and they are on the way. Have a great weekend!

Much better today

I am feeling so much better today than yesterday. And definitely better than Sunday! I slept pretty well last night and now I feel like normal. Well, I do have a slight headache because I went to the dentist this morning. Poking around in a person's mouth with pointy objects is bound to give that person a headache. I go every 6 months, they should be pretty clean! Oh well, it is a necessary evil. I think the hygienist likes to inflict pain. She seems all sweet and innocent, but dang it, get a dental tool in her hand and she can hurt. They get paid good money to do that too!

Oh well, I am over it. Tonight is the normal. Packing, working out, then relaxing. I figure it is time for a spin class. I think it is has been 2 weeks since I hit one. My favorite teacher isn't teaching the class tonight though. He is super tough but fabulous. (So, have we noticed I pay people to actually inflict pain on me..... Maybe I should take a deep look inside me :)).

Well, I need to get back to work. I also have an expense report to complete. That AMEX bill comes quickly and I might need some money to pay it off!

Icky, icky

That is how I feel today. This weekend was very good. I packed, Mike and I hung out, watched a few movies, had dinner with Mike's visiting cousin, and I finally got to meet up with Michelle for dinner. All was good until I got home last night and felt a horrible pain in my stomach. Well, maybe it is all the core work I have been doing. Oh, um, no. Apparently one of my favorite restaurants gave me food poisoning! (I won't tell you were because this is the first time anything like this has ever happened there and I will probably go back there again) I was dizzy, had muscle aches and was generally in massive pain for about two hours (I felt like I was going to die.). It died down enough were I could sleep, but I am not super 100% today. Mike was working and I truthfully didn't really want him there for this fiasco. Normally I want to be taken care of when I am sick, but not last night! All he needed to know was that I was still conscious :). My lunch consists of Gatorade and crackers. Yeah, I probably should have stayed home today, but I am taking Friday off to move. I figured I did need to get some stuff done. I am just being a cube hermit. The stomach cramps have gone away so that is good news.

Mary Kaye is moving into our parking area -- they are setting up right now. So begins the month long complaint that they are taking up spaces and still in town. Oh well, hopefully it won't rain on them........

When I flew into Chicago on Monday, it started raining. Apparently it hadn't been raining in Chicago. Until I got there. It was clear when I left yesterday, but the rain break that Dallas was getting is now over. I went to lunch without an umbrella (because I left it in my car, silly me!). It started pouring on my way back from Subway. I think I am finally drying out!!! I was a pitiful sight though. (I still am. Thank goodness I had no meetings this afternoon!)

I was actually busy today which was kind a nice change. Of course nothing interesting happened while I was out of the office, but I didn't expect too much. I have just been plugging away and trying to catch up. I am ready to go home though. I have been out of the office for 4 days, but it is still tiring to come back.

I'm Back!

Well, this would have been cute had I seen it before leaving for Chicago! Oh well. I am back from my trip and it was a pretty good meeting. I stayed outside of the city so I wasn't able to go into the city to explore. It was just logistically not possible, especially with no car. So, I do have to go back to Chicago so I can actually see it.

I will blog later but it is time to play with the kitties. They have patiently been waiting for mommy to come home. And Simon is staring at me now. So time to go!

Getting Ready

I have some time before I have to head to the airport so I thought I'd drop in to say hi. The rest of the weekend went pretty well. It was super low key. I was pretty tired on Sunday and really just wanted to stay in bed. I did work out with Ryan but just barely. However, measurements weren't up to my expectations, so I need to kick it up a little. My body fat isn't moving and I really want it down a little more. It will happen - I have a plan!

When I got home from the gym, Mike was over already so we got to hang out some :). Always a good thing. My apartment is a mess though since I am packing and have crap everywhere. That is making me a little crazy but I just work around it. Plus this is better than waiting until the night before the movers get here to pack.

Well, I need to get going. Everyone have a great day! And week. I am not sure I will have access to the computer until Thursday night. I will try to find one in the hotel -- surely they have one! But, we'll see.

Okay, Friday night started off well. I went to the gym, had a great workout and then headed home. I was going to Mike's, cook dinner, and just hang out. I leave for Chicago on Monday, so time together is important. Welp, I get in my car, start the trek to Mesquite, hit a freakin pot hole and pop a tire. Damn, damn, damn!!! I pull over, call Mike in my most pitiful voice and he comes to my rescue. Yes, I see the irony of a strong, independent gal calling her man to help change a tire. We won't go into that at this time! Anyway, I proceed to get all the stuff out of my trunk while he is on the way. Well, there is a piece of glass in the trunk and I cut my finger. So, I am bleeding. And I am getting eaten by mosquitoes. They are relentless and will not leave me alone. So, by the time Mike gets there, I am covered in bites. Oh, not happy. So, my hero arrives :).... and we finally get the tire changed (oh, the spare tire fell on my foot and so I also have a bruise..... but that was totally my fault.) and head back to Mike's place. Poor guy is in serious need of a shower!!

I make a pit stop at CVS because I need something for the bites. The cashier was asking how my night was and I caught myself saying "Fine". Then I stopped myself. Not fine -- itching like crazy!!! He was very sympathetic and even made sure I didn't still need help in the tire arena. Aveeno anti itch cream is wonderful by the way! I love Aveeno products.

And, I did get dinner cooked. It was late and Mike had to go to work, but dang it, I set out to make it and I did!! (It was easy -- baked Rigatoni - but I was still craving it after all that fun).

Today was spent getting a new tire. The tire store is around the corner so I was able to walk home and get stuff done. But that was a nice expense I wasn't expecting. Thank God I just got paid. (Silver lining, I guess.)

No Title!

Well, happy Tuesday to everyone. Day before a holiday and I am sure the office will clear out before 3. I will be here until 4:30 though. I don't have anything I need to do before the holiday and well, I want to save my PTO. I can do some reading this afternoon. I am meeting a friend tonight to go see the new John Krasinksi movie "License to Wed". I have such high hopes for this -- I hope it doesn't disappoint! I don't think it will. It looks pretty funny. And I do like Mandy Moore so I am sure it will be great! Look for my review tomorrow :).

Other than that, it is pretty slow today. I have one more thing to do today -- but it is just a letter so it is no big deal. But due to Union rules, I have to elaborate on everything and can't just say "NO". That is really all I am saying, but you have to have a lot of gobblety gook. It is annoying.

It's raining... again

I know in August we will be wondering where all the rain is but for now, I want some sunshine. It is July 2. Come on! I like rain, I really do. But not right before I am about to get off work and drive home in it. And now that I look good in tank tops, I want to wear them as much as possible. It just seems wrong on a rainy day :).

You know you have been worked hard by your trainer when co-workers notice you are walking funny and ask why. I am limping. It is cute. Plus, it hurts when I cough. But it is a good hurt. I definitely feel like I have accomplished something in that workout! And Ryan says just wait until Thursday. I might not be able to type then. Who knows. He seems to enjoy this new period of shocking my body off its plateau. I am looking forward to yoga tonight. :). I need the stretching. Badly.

Okay, I think that is it for today. I received my study materials for the PHR exam (HR Certification), so I am going to get on that. The test is in December, but it is a lot of stuff to cover. I wanted to give myself as much time as possible. I took a pretest today and well, I am pretty much 100% in the Safety and Risk Management Section. It would have been embarrassing to get OSHA questions wrong.

The Happy Oasis

Angela has the best backyard in the world (next to Aunt Gail's actually. All Gail needs is a pool!). I am sure I have mentioned Angela's pool many times in my blog and Jen has too in hers. There was another get together today -- just because. I had to leave early to meet Ryan for a session (I think I am crazy for such dedication, really.....) but I got to spend a good 2 hours there. There was even some sun :). It was nice to hang out, soak in some rays and just relax. I couldn't have a couple of beers but really, that was no loss. I needed to drink water anyway! I was supposed to reasses today, but for some reason we are waiting until Thursday. That's okay. While I feel pretty good, I always feel like a few more cardio sessions will get me down further! It is a mind game, really. Well, back to Angela's. It is so worth the 40 minute drive to get to her place (and even more so when i can actually stay longer than 2 hours!!).

And I did get a booty kicking today with Ryan. I am definitely going to feel it tomorrow. But I feel great. And that is all that matters!!! But yoga tomorrow night will feel soooooo good. So, time to take some advil and get to packing up the apartment!

Smokey Tuesday

First of all, Spamalot was super funny. I didn't know I was really missing out until I saw it. :). I really enjoyed it and I think everyone should go see it! I overheard someone actually say they weren't enjoying it. What? Are you kidding me? It was just too funny for words. I guess to each his or her own, huh. Thanks to Mom and Dad for giving me their tickets :)!

There was a fire in Downtown Dallas yesterday afternoon. It was a old warehouse that was being demolished anyway, so nobody was hurt. But it is still burning in places and the smoke is filling downtown. That is always fun............. So, it is smokey, hazy and cloudy because it is still rainy. And the office smells like smoke in places.

Well, that is pretty much it for now. I am completing the travel arrangements for Chicago (work trip) but that is pretty much done. I just need the final email showing it has been booked (air travel requires special approval which I got yesterday). Have a great day!!!

Dang I am tired......

First of all, Happy Birthday Jen!!! Today is her thirty faux birthday. I wish her all the fun and happiness today!!! Tomorrow is a pool party at Angela's house. We all win when it comes time for her birthday because Angela's house is a happy oasis :). And then Sunday, she and I are going to see Spamalot. Mom gave me her tickets since they can't use them. I can't wait because I hear Spamalot is pretty funny.

Okay, now on for why I am so tired. Mom and Dad left for CA today at 6:00. Meaning we had to leave for the airport at 4:30. Meaning my booty got out of bed at 4:15. So, yeah, I've been awake for 4 hours already. I was thinking I might possibly go to the gym once I dropped them off, but that didn't happen. I wasn't quite awake and I didn't want to fall of the treadmill. :). So, I am doing that tonight after work. I promise!!! (Actually, I am only cheating myself if I don't go, so really no promise is necessary, huh??). I went back home and tried to rest a little, but never got back to sleep. So, it will be a lot of caffeine today for me. I hope they have fun though! They get to stay for 2 weeks, lucky! 5 days was not enough for me earlier this month.

The end of the week is in site!

Okay, so Jon isn't going to Thailand for the summer, he will be going to NYC in August. Actually perfect, because I am more likely to visit NYC than Thailand :). Or, I guess I should say, I would have more opportunity to visit NYC than Thailand. That first statement made it sound like I would be opposed to the over seas visit. Heck, I've been to China -- I can go anywhere :).

Since last night, Ryan had to cancel our session, I did a yoga class. I haven't been in a few weeks and I had some super tight muscles. It was awesome to be back on the mat. He had us do something called a standing split. You lean over, keep on leg on the ground and through the other in the air. The eventual result should be what looks like a "standing split" as the name states. I was lucky that I got the extended leg at a 90 degree angle. It felt good but was tough. I slept very well after that class!

Well, that is about it. I just booked a mover for next month. Now I just have to get everything in order. I have time, but things have a way of sneaking up on you! Oh, and good luck to Mike because he starts finals tonight. Good luck baby :).

I actually have news!

Wow, I haven't had news in awhile (besides my CA trip). Anyway, I have decided to move to a new apartment. Okay, so it is the same complex, but since I have been in my current apartment FOREVER, it was about time. I wanted more space and I will be going to a 2 bedroom. It really isn't too much more than what I am paying now either. That is pretty cool. I went to look at the new unit yesterday and it is pretty nice. They are still working on it so there was no carpet, but I have a good imagination. The kitchen is a tiny bit smaller but it has a walk through, meaning I can go in one way and exit in the dining room. The bedrooms are the same size I have now and the living room is a bit bigger. I like the layout -- last night I was truly wondering, but I can now see myself living there. And there is a washer/dryer -- one of my requirements! I was a tad spoiled with the current unit. I do have a microwave already installed in the new apartment so if you know of anybody who wants an old one, I would be willing to sell. I have had it for years, but it still works! I haven't decided yet, but I might not use my table in the new place so I might be looking to sell it too. I will let you know.

I did realize I will be moving in late July. Dang it will be hot!!! I do plan to hire movers to do the heavy stuff. Yes, it is across the parking lot. I am strong enough to help move a couch up the stairs. Doesn't mean I want to :). Plus, I have some time between the new and old apartment so I can move in spurts. That will be nice. I am getting excited although ask me in the middle of all this how I feel. I will be cursing the day I made the decision........ :). I am looking forward to seeing the cats try to get used to the new place. It is always funny to watch them get their bearings! (And I will also be doing a lot cleaning out of stuff in the next few weeks. I am going to Chicago the week before I start moving, so I want to get the bulk of it done ASAP.)

No baby brother. He didn't come in last week, but that's cool. He will just head to Thailand without seeing me. Mom and Dad are doing their CA trip at the end of the week, so it will be up to me to hold down the fort in Dallas.
