Okay, so the plan was to take a lot of pictures. Well, I remembered the CAMERA....... there is nothing I can do with it without the MEMORY CARD!!! I forgot to take it out of the computer after I downloaded Ghost Bar pictures. Yes, I could have bought a disposable camera but decided against it. So, you will just have to take my word on things :).
I really like how the Ft. Worth Zoo is laid out. They did a very good job. And the animals have plenty of space to roam considering they are pretty much in captivity. Mike fell in love with meerkats. It was so funny. He apparently has never watched "Meerkat Manor" on Animal Planet! These little guys were sooooo cute! And a little fatter than the ones you see on TV. That is understandable considering I am sure these zoo guys have a greater access to food! They had some obvious personalities too. Very funny little animals. At one point Mike asked if they would notice if we swiped one and he put it in his cargo pockets. Um, probably!!!
The big cats were so cool! I love cats -- big and small -- yeah, like you didn't know that :). And it is amazing that the little quirks that I see in my housecats can be seen in these huge cougars and mountain lions. Even the way they lay when sleeping. Very cool.
I did see my hippo - whole reason for the trip (just a reminder - mom adopted the hippo for me from the zoo for Christmas.) He was under water a lot, but I really don't blame him. He did pop the head out of water and I was able to say hi. i thought the enclosure for the hippos was too small but I guess they just need a large pool and not much more....... Another thing we saw was a bug exhibit. And in this bug exhibit were roaches!! Argh. I couldn't look, I had to get out of that building. I would be more than happy to give them a raid bomb to take care of those. They didn't give me any explanation as to why roaches shouldn't be anhilated but I am sure there is some reason they were in there. I love animals but come on. They aren't animals!!!
Well, tomorrow I have to go back to work. I think I am going to head to the gym tonight after some rest. There is a dance class that I will probably go to. I did spin last night after working out with Ryan in the morning. I figure tonight I can take a "fun" class for cardio. Not that spin isn't fun...... :) I hit a plateau and have a 2 week lb goal so it is time to get serious!
